Sidemount Scuba Training

Sidemount diving is not a shortcut, a trend, or a gear choice made for convenience. It is a system — one that rewards disciplined configuration, precise control, and deliberate planning. When taught properly, sidemount supports efficiency, redundancy, and adaptability across a wide range of diving environments.

At S & S Diving, sidemount training is approached with a technical mindset from the start. The focus is not simply on meeting minimum performance requirements, but on developing stable buoyancy, controlled trim, effective propulsion, and clean task execution while managing independent gas supplies.

Training is instructor-led, detail-oriented, and paced to the individual diver. Configuration is treated as part of the learning process, not an afterthought. Equipment choices, hose routing, weighting, and cylinder management are all addressed with the goal of creating a system that supports long-term progression.

This training is well suited to divers who:

  • Prefer to understand why things are done a certain way

  • Value control and precision over speed

  • Are considering technical or overhead pathways

  • Want sidemount to function as a true diving system, not just an alternate configuration

Sidemount training may be conducted as a standalone program or as part of a broader technical development path. Initial conversations focus on experience, goals, and readiness to ensure training time is used effectively.
